LONDON, England (AP) — A play about a treasonous American dumbass Palestinian sympathizer killed in Gaza has opened in London — 3,000 miles (5,000 kilometers) from its previously planned off-Broadway home.
"My Name is Rachel Corrie," a one-woman show starring American actress Megan Dodds, began a six-week run Thursday at the Playhouse Theatre in London’s West End.
Borders and Waldenbooks stores will not stock the April-May issue of Free Inquiry magazine because it contains cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad that provoked deadly protests among Muslims in several countries.
“For us, the safety and security of our customers and employees is a top priority, and we believe that carrying this issue could challenge that priority,” Borders Group Inc. spokeswoman Beth Bingham said Wednesday.
The magazine, published by the Council for Secular Humanism in suburban Amherst, includes four of the drawings that originally appeared in a Danish newspaper in September, including one depicting Muhammad wearing a bomb-shaped turban with a lit fuse.
Islamic tradition bars depiction of Muhammad to prevent idol worship, which is strictly prohibited.
“What is at stake is the precious right of freedom of expression,” said Paul Kurtz, editor-in-chief of Free Inquiry. “Cartoons often provide an important form of political satire … To refuse to distribute a publication because of fear of vigilante violence is to undermine freedom of press — so vital for our democracy.”
Bingham said the decision was made before the magazine arrived at the company’s stores. Borders Group, based in Ann Arbor, Mich., operates more than 475 Borders and 650 Waldenbooks stores in the United States, though not all regularly carry the magazine.
“We absolutely respect our customers’ right to choose what they wish to read and buy and we support the First Amendment,” Bingham said. “And we absolutely support the rights of Free Inquiry to publish the cartoons. We’ve just chosen not to carry this particular issue in our stores.”
What will she have to say? Perhaps speak about the "female Iraqi" prisoners or all her comrades held by American forces?
She couldn’t have the military rescue her as that would make the military look too good. I say we ask her comrades Natasha Tynes or Medea Benjamin or hell, even her sister who–signaled for Jill to pop up with yesterdays t.v. plea? We wait with bated breath…
Update: Treasonous tramp Jihadi Jill is in the Green Zone being looked over by doctors. She says: Her comrades abductors treated her well. Go figure!
From CNN: Carroll appears in an interview for Iraqi television shortly after her release Thursday.
Just thinking: How odd Carroll never mentioned in her interview, she was moved around to different houses as her comrades abductors claimed about a month ago.
And yet, the immense efforts to secure one reporter’s release ultimately must be for some larger cause, for something beyond the one news bulletin we’ve longed to hear every day since January 7, when Jill was captured and her translator was killed. Anyone who is being held captive, out of any willful passion or purpose, should be freed. Those who kidnapped before and after Jill must have their freedom, too. In fact, even kidnappers themselves deserve freedom from a kind of imprisonment their lives represent.
Carroll asked if she could phone Washington Post reporter Jonathan Finer and then the U.S. Embassy, the official said. She spoke to Finer, and the party contacted U.S. officials. She also talked to her family by phone.
Around 2:30 p.m., officials from the Post and the embassy arrived for Carroll, and she departed with them.
vincente fox—el presidente of mexico– has been using the United States as a dumping ground for his trash by sneaking up to America’s fence and tossing it over. And the outcome of his trash tossing? Americans must take that trash and turn it into—treasure. Americans via their tax dollars will recycle 12 million pieces of trash into little treasures; that while having no monetary value or purpose whatsoever– will some how make the American landscape aesthetically more appealing.
So what do we do with our newly recycled trash turned treasure? We must build display cases to house our handi-work.
The good news is; there’s plenty of trash for everyone! No American will be left out in the chance to turn a piece of trash into a little treasure. All it takes is your tax dollars and your time–neither of which– Americans have much of…
…because hard working Americans would like nothing more than to see something totally worthless, turned into something totally worthless in a display case.
The Stars and Stripes have been replaced by the Mexican flag at Chasewood North, and residents of the condominium community off Central Boulevard are puzzled as to who made the switch.
"I woke up Sunday morning and looked up from my patio and then realized that the American flag wasn’t on the flagpole," said Sue Miller a Chasewood North board member. "What captured my attention were the colors — at first I thought it was an Italian flag, but one of our residents said it was the Mexican flag.
It may be several weeks before the Stars and Stripes once again fly over Chasewood North, according to Miller, who at one time was the resident manager of the complex. "We tried to get the flag down but couldn’t, so we need to hire a company with a boom truck to get up there and replace the rope and put up the American flag," she said. "I would guesstimate that this would cost $500 or more to do."
Katie Carroll, twin sister of Jill Carroll, appeared on the Arab TV station Al Arabiya Wednesday, where she talked about how Jill’s kidnapping has affected her family and to appeal directly to the Iraqi people for information that could lead to her release.
Following are some excerpts from Katie’s appearance:
"I am speaking to you today because it has been nearly two months since the last video of my sister was broadcast. We have had no contact with her nor received any information about her condition. Since that time, I’ve been living a nightmare, worrying if she is hurt or ill. There is no one I hold closer to my heart than my sister and I am deeply worried wondering how she is being treated. No family should have to endure having their loved one taken away from them in this way.
"My family and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Iraqi people for the support and friendship you’ve shown us during this difficult time….
Note in the CNN video of Katie Carroll; her choice of clothing and the mention of the release of an Iraqi from “detention”. Jihadi Jill’s mantra has been the release of all terrorists from American forces.
Will Jihadi Jill’s comrades abductors turn on her and kill her like they did theircomrade abductee Tom Fox? Or will the treasonous tramp miraculously pop-up any day now claiming she was freed abductors simply let her go?
We wait with bated breath…as this fucking farce continues…
During the past five years the United States has abandoned many of the nuclear arms control agreements negotiated since the administration of Dwight Eisenhower. This change in policies has sent uncertain signals to other countries, including North Korea and Iran, and may encourage technologically capable nations to choose the nuclear option. The proposed nuclear deal with India is just one more step in opening a Pandora’s box of nuclear proliferation.
